This book is a great way to show kids how to safely try out personas, both good and bad, through play.

While they’re at it, they run into a poisonous swamp (maybe just a trash can), a tsunami (a garbage truck driving through a puddle?) and a dragon! When the “tsunami” causes their treasure map to fly away, they think it’s all over. Will they find the treasure? 

This dual-language book is not only filled with playful fun, it’s a great way to build English and French vocabulary.

Camp Average: Away Games

While they’re being bullied by their fellow campers, their friend Miles is at Camp Average trying to keep the peace and get Mack and Andre back on their home turf. 

This entertaining book (and series) is great for teaching kids about friendship, teamwork and cooperation.

Resentful over having to spend the summer halfway around the world in the Tasmanian rainforest, middle-school violinist Louisa makes some intriguing discoveries. The story follows Louisa as she encounters big-footed bandicoots, scary spiders, weird noises in the night, and… Convict Rock. 

Convict Rock, she learns, is a sanctuary for the last remaining Tasmanian tiger and huge marsupials hunted into extinction almost a century ago. Now the sanctuary is under threat and she must earn the tigers’ trust to lure it into safety with her violin.
