Calling all young Jedi, rebels and readers: Star Wars Reads has landed on Epic!
Star Wars Reads is a month-long celebration of reading created by Disney Publishing and Lucasfilm, bringing fans together through Star Wars stories, activities and reading adventures. This October, Epic is joining the celebration with even more ways for kids, families and classrooms to get in on the fun. Throughout the month, readers can explore Epic’s collection of Star Wars books, take on special reading challenges and earn limited-time digital badges.
Also starting October 1, kids can travel to a galaxy far, far away with a new ebook created exclusively for Epic readers, Star Wars: A Luke & Leia Adventure.
The exclusive adventure follows Luke, Leia and R2-D2 as they secretly take the Millennium Falcon from Han Solo to investigate missing Rebellion ships. Even better? The story will be released in three parts as a Read-To-Me series, complete with narration and sound effects to bring the story to life.
Reading the new story is only the beginning. Here’s how families and educators can participate in Star Wars Reads on Epic this October.
Families: Take On Star Wars Reads Mission
From October 1, Epic Family subscribers can get in on the excitement!
Readers can earn an exclusive, limited-time Star Wars Reads badge if they read 5 books from our special collection by October 31. But the fun doesn’t end there! Readers can also enjoy a Star Wars adventure that’s not available anywhere else! Star Wars: A Luke & Leia Adventure is a three-part Read-to-Me series, complete with narration and sound effects. Kids will earn a special Falcon Mission badge when they finish all three parts of the story.
Epic will be spotlighting its extensive collection of Star Wars titles for readers ages 3-12 throughout October, so there will be plenty of adventures to choose from.
Educators: Your Classroom Has a New Challenge
Teachers, your classroom has a mission, too.
The Star Wars Reads Classroom Challenge invites educators to bring the excitement of Star Wars into the classroom and encourage students to read throughout October.
To participate, teachers can sign up for the challenge through Epic’s registration form using the email associated with their Epic account. How Does the Classroom Challenge Work?
The challenge is designed to give participating classrooms of different sizes an opportunity to compete.
Classroom performance will be determined by average in-class reading time of available Star Wars titles on Epic October 1–31, accounting for classroom size.
That means every reading session can help your classroom move closer to its goal.
Epic School users will also be able to read Parts 1 and 2 of Star Wars: A Luke & Leia Adventure in the classroom, then read Part 3 at home with an Epic Family account. It’s a fun way to keep the reading momentum going beyond the school day and invite families into the Star Wars Reads celebration, too.
To add even more Star Wars excitement, educators will have access to printable resources that teachers can use to bring Star Wars Reads into the classroom, from celebrating reading progress to adding a little extra Star Wars energy to reading time.
Special Rewards for Classrooms
Participating educators and classrooms will also have opportunities to receive special prizes and experiences as part of the challenge, including the exclusive Star Wars Reads badge by completing 5 Star Wars books from the Star Wars Reads Collection on Epic.
Keep an eye out for more details on classroom rewards and how winners will be recognized.
So whether your class reads for the prizes, the bragging rights or simply to find out what happens next, every minute spent reading counts.
