The Fox and the Forest Fire

Written by a volunteer firefighter, this touching story will show your kid the importance of friendship and resilience in the face of tragedy, and that with hope, things can heal and be rebuilt in time.

Fred & Marjorie: A Doctor, a Dog, and the Discovery of Insulin

Written by: Deborah Kerbel

This graphic novel tells the true story of the discovery of insulin thanks to a canine hero, Marjorie. 

In 1921, Dr. Frederick Banting comes up with an innovative idea to treat diabetes. He tests his theory using street dogs and bonds with Marjorie, leading to one of the most impactful milestones in medical science. While thoughtfully telling the story of a life-saving breakthrough for generations of diabetics, the book also delves into the ethics of using animals for medical research.
