Here’s what you need to know for the 2021-2022 school year.

When the COVID-19 pandemic closed schools last year, we introduced changes to make it as easy as possible to learn and teach during remote learning, including remote login and free after-hours access to kids via Epic Free. Now as we transition back to the classroom, we’re making a couple of changes to Epic School.

It’s been such a privilege to support continued reading, discovery and connection during this unprecedented time. Take a look at these changes below:

Here’s What’s Changing

New Hours

Starting Friday, July 23, Epic School will be available until 3 p.m. instead of 4 p.m. on weekdays. The new hours of availability are 7 a.m.–3 p.m. local time, Monday–Friday.

Epic School will continue to be 100% free to use in your classroom and we will support your reading and learning goals. Please use your class code to access Epic School during days when school is in-person.

Two Options for After-Hours Access

Epic Unlimited

After 3 p.m. students will see a message in the app letting them know that Epic School hours are over and that they will need a grownup to unlock Epic Unlimited. This year we’re offering educators to share a special, limited-time discount for your students and their families: $67.99 for the first year ($79.99 value) if they purchase an annual plan. You can share it via flyer or by sending a message through your educator dashboard. See the steps below:

  1. Go into your Educator dashboard, scroll down and click “See Offer.”

2. Select “Preview Flyer” and download.

Epic Basic

Students can also take advantage of their free daily book via Epic Basic.  With Epic Basic, students and their families can choose one free book to read after-school each day. They just need a parent’s email address to sign up, no credit card required.

Epic Originals Availability

Starting this school year, a limited selection of your favorite Epic Originals books will be available in Epic School. Full access to the entire Epic Originals library will only be available through an Epic Unlimited subscription, intended for personal use outside of school. You can offer families a special discount on Epic Unlimited to help kids keep reading all their favorite titles at home. At this time it is not possible to upgrade an Epic School account to include access to the entire Epic Originals library.

Thank you for being part of our Epic Educator community and for all you do to inspire children to love reading in and out of the classroom! Have questions? Check out our FAQ for more information.
