4 Chapter 1 DEER ON THE RUN The Sun is beginning to set A herd of deer moves through the forest They walk slowly through the trees Sometimes they stop to nibble on a bush or the leaves on a tree The deer come to a field There is plenty of food here for them The deer graze on the grass They stand with their heads bent down to eat A few deer lie down in the last patches of Sun. A few others walk slowly They look into the trees They are checking for danger
