Billie Eilish: The Rise of a Superstar — page 5 — Billie Finneas and their mother Maggie left in 2019 Before She Was Famous Billie Eilish was born on December 18 2001 in Los Angeles California Her parents Maggie Baird and Patrick O'Connell were actors They originally chose Eilish as their daughter's first name but when her grandfather Bill died they decided to call her Billie Newborn Billie's brother four year old Finneas wanted to call her Pirate so their parents added that as a middle name Billie's full name grew to Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell Even as a very young child Billie showed an interest in music Her mother who joked that Billie had sung before she talked remembers that she sang constantly When she was four Billie wrote her first song It was about falling into a black hole By the time she was 10

Billie Eilish: The Rise of a Superstar — page 6 — eight she was a member of the Los Angeles Children's Chorus Billie's parents homeschooled her and Finneas They wanted to be sure their kids had time in their daily schedule to be creative Their parents were also inspired by Hanson a band of three brothers whose famous hit MMMBop came out the year Finneas was born The brothers had been homeschooled before making it big Billie and Finneas learned songwriting as part of their homeschooling By the time she turned eleven Billie was writing her own songs to express herself Her brother was writing too and the two often wrote songs together Early on the pair liked to experiment with dark or unusual themes in their music One song Fingers Crossed was about a zombie apocalypse Music wasn't all Billie enjoyed She also liked horseback riding making costumes and crafts and dancing She tried acting landing The Hanson brothers had a popular band in the 1990s 11
