Karate — page 5 — 6 what is on the line Whoever scores the next point will win the karate championship The referee had stopped the clock so both boys could adjust their uniforms He checks to make sure they are ready He then lowers his hands between the karatekas and yells Hajime to restart the match The fans shout and cheer even louder The boys bounce around the ring for a moment Suddenly they come together Their hands and feet fly through the air in a blur Each punch and kick is met with a block No point is scored this time They again separate before dancing around the ring some more The clock behind them slowly ticks away Time is almost is up With only a few seconds left the boy wearing red leaps forward He throws two high punches His opponent spins away to protect himself Now his back is open for a strike This is a big chance to score a point The boy in red shouts a kiai out loud AYE-YA This shout focuses his next move
