In a town \u201cshriveled up like a rose without rain,\u201d the worst day arrives for the Wren when the Tyrant\u2019s guards collect the town\u2019s musical instruments. Before surrendering his own, he plays one more song, and the crowd rises up and sings as one. The Wren is taken away, never to be seen again.
