Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions. Are you ready to get started?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Norm:&nbsp;<\/strong>Sure!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Epic!:&nbsp;<\/strong>What were you expecting from your first time at camp? In what ways were you wrong?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Norm:<\/strong>I\u2019ll be honest, I was expecting it to be lame. Any time your dad says something is \u201cso great\u201d and \u201creally fun,\u201d it\u2019s usually not. I figured it was going to be a summer full of bugs, boring activities and cheesy camp songs. I expected that I\u2019d be counting down the days until summer was over and already planning my list of reasons for why I should never go to camp again.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I was completely wrong. Camp is awesome! I totally did not expect to meet awesome friends like Oliver, Wisp and Hazel. I didn\u2019t think it\u2019d be fun to learn new things like canoeing. Canoeing is really fun \u2026 once you get the hang of it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But most of all, I did not expect to meet an actual&nbsp;<em>lake monster!<\/em>And did I mention the delicious berry casserole? Oh, boy \u2026 this has been a summer to remember.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"350\" class=\"wp-image-1108\" src=\"https:\/\/www.getepic.com\/learn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/img-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width: 1000px;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.getepic.com\/learn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/img-2.jpg 998w, https:\/\/www.getepic.com\/learn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/img-2-800x280.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.getepic.com\/learn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/img-2-320x112.jpg 320w, https:\/\/www.getepic.com\/learn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/img-2-560x196.jpg 560w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Epic!:&nbsp;<\/strong>What did you learn about yourself at Camp Moonlight?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Norm:<\/strong>Oh, I learned&nbsp;<em>so<\/em>much! But what I\u2019m really proud of is that I learned that my size is a good thing. I was so worried about being too big and being too different and literally not fitting in my bunk (which is kind of true). But, and don\u2019t tell anybody this, the Camp Moonlight motto is right: Being different is not unusual\u2026it\u2019s&nbsp;<em>FUN<\/em>usual.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My friends didn\u2019t care that I was way bigger than them, and when we had to face some obstacles it was our differences that allowed us to succeed as a team. Each of the things we were worried about were the things that kind of saved the day. So what did I learn? I learned it\u2019s okay to be different. I learned that it\u2019s okay to be me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Epic!:&nbsp;<\/strong>What advice would you give to other Bigfoots your age, or anyone else having trouble fitting in?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, here\u2019s the thing. You&nbsp;<em>do<\/em>fit in. It\u2019s just a matter of finding the place where you fit the best. Where you can be accepted for who you are without having to change. I was lucky that my new friends felt that way pretty quickly. I know that\u2019s probably not always true. Sometimes it\u2019s difficult to find those true friends, or where you feel comfortable.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-2-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>But my advice is this: don\u2019t change. Be you. That\u2019s who you are \u2026 and sooner or later, you\u2019re going to find the people who like you just as you are and it\u2019s going to be awesome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be brave. Be patient.
